TEACHING ABOUT GENOCIDE: THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.

Teaching about genocide with testimony humanizes these histories and deepens students' understanding of the people who were targeted. In particular, the complex and nuanced history of the Armenian Genocide can be highlighted through the use of testimony-based resources. The USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive contains over 1,300 testimonies and a variety of resources related to the Armenian Genocide experience. These resources encourage student reflection on the human impact of the events.

In this webinar, Sedda Antekelian, Senior Learning and Development will present testimony-based activities to teach about this history to further contextualize the Echoes & Reflections Unit 12 on Teaching About Genocide.
