CHUTZ POW! THE POWER OF GRAPHIC NOVELS IN HOLOCAUST EDUCATION

Comics can be a very useful tool in the classroom to support students’ ability to connect to and understand complex or sensitive topics. CHUTZ-POW! Superheroes of the Holocaust, published by The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, is an anthology comic-book series that illustrates the stories of several heroic survivors who displayed incredible feats of courage, resilience, and sacrifice during the Holocaust. In this webinar, Marcel Walker, the project coordinator, and lead project artist of CHUTZ-POW! will discuss how comic book heroes and illustration can be used to teach the Holocaust in the classroom.
