Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.
The February 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, were held in a world on the brink of war. Germany's role in hosting both winter and summer games just before the outbreak of World War II offered the international community a unique look into a fascist society where Jewish freedom and safety were increasingly at risk. Join Todd Hennessy, Echoes & Reflections facilitator and educator, for a detailed look into the Winter Olympic games, the role the Games played in Germany and abroad, a brief glimpse into the events of the IV Winter Olympiad, and the experiences of Jewish athletes. This is part one of a two-part series on Nazi Germany and the Olympics.
