Online Course Frequently Asked Questions

Login and Registration -

Q:I’m using the Canvas app and I’m being prompted to enter a school name. Which school name should I use?

A:On the Canvas app, search “echoes” when prompted to enter a school name. Select the USC Shoah Foundation option.

Q:I can’t log into Canvas! What’s happening?

A: Make sure you’re fully registered before attempting to log into Canvas. You should receive a confirmation email from Canvas once registration has been completed. If you haven’t, please contact info@echoesandreflections.org.

Q:I confirmed that I’ve registered, why is Canvas not letting me log in?

A: Please check the email you used to register with. If for example you’ve registered with your school email address, you’ll need to log in with that same address. If you still cannot log in, please email info@echoesandreflections.org and we will investigate the issue.

Q:What is the best way to stay connected with you through the course?

A: Your facilitator will be sending out email updates at the beginning of each module for the Three-Part Course. Please be sure to add your facilitator’s email address to your contact list so you do not miss any important information. If you need to email your facilitator during the course, you may message them directly through the Canvas messaging system.

Course Content and Timeframes –

Q: What is the course syllabus and where can I find it?

A: There isn’t an official syllabus, but you can see what activities are available under the ‘Modules’ option on the left rail.

Q: How much time do I have to complete this course?

A: The Three-Part Course is three weeks long with an optional fourth week for the final project. Module One opens the first week of the course, Module Two opens the second week, and Module Three opens the third week. The optional final project is due the fourth and final week. You have until around the end of the month to complete the course in its entirety. Please pay attention to the due dates listed on the website. Each module will take approximately two hours to complete. You do not need to complete each module in one sitting.

Q: For the Three-Part Course, will I still be able to do the course if I log on after the first week?

A: Yes, because the course is self-paced, you are able to participate at any time while the course is open.  Once the course has ended, you will no longer be able to participate, and will need to sign up for a new course.

Q: I want to keep a record of people’s responses.  Will Canvas allow me to save these pages?

A: You will have to manually save people’s responses, e.g., screenshot or copy and paste.  Canvas does not have the ability to save pages for you.
