NAZI PERSECUTION OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY
June 26th, 2023
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET
Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.
Persecution of LGBTQ people was an accepted German state policy long before the Nazi regime, but between 1933 and 1945, propaganda and legislation targeting them grew dramatically. This webinar will be presented by Mr. Yossi Gilad, a frequent lecturer at Yad Vashem, and will focus on Nazi texts, movies, and propaganda posters that demonstrate the radicalization of theory and conduct against Germans who were or were suspected of being LGBTQ during WWII.
The Echoes & Reflections Timeline of the Holocaust contains additional resources regarding this subject.
