SILENT WITNESSES: UNVEILING BYSTANDER COMPLICITY IN THE HOLOCAUST
April 16th, 2024
4:00 PM ET
Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.
The complicity of bystanders is a critical yet often overlooked aspect of Holocaust history. Utilizing photographs and visual history testimony, educators will explore classroom-ready resources and learn valuable and pedagogically sound strategies to address how the actions and inactions of the public served as both tacit approval for Nazi persecution and encouraged perpetrators to do more. Lead by classroom teacher and Echoes & Reflections facilitator Tyrone Shaw, we’ll confront the uncomfortable truths of the past, draw contemporary parallels, and inspire students to meaningful action against injustice today. This webinar connects to units 3 and 9 on the Echoes & Reflections website.
