THE KINDERTRANSPORT: A SURVIVOR REMEMBERS

On the eve of WWII, as conditions in Europe deteriorated and countries closed their borders to refugees, Jewish organizations persuaded the British government to allow 10,000 children to enter the United Kingdom as temporary residents. This rescue mission is known as the Kindertransport. The vast majority of these children were Jewish - one of whom was Dr. Henry Foner (then called Heinz Lichtwitz). During this webinar, Yad Vashem educator Liz Elsby will provide background information about the Kindertransport. Participants will also meet Dr. Henry Foner who will speak about his experiences as a child on the Kindertransport.
