THE RESPONSIBILITY OF WITNESS: MOTIVES AND MEMORY IN HOLOCAUST TESTIMONY

August 25, 2026

4:00 PM ET

Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.

This webinar explores the value of survivor testimony in Holocaust memory. Participants will examine the motives, challenges, and enduring responsibility survivors navigate when offering firsthand accounts and how it shapes our understanding of the Holocaust and its impact on the world.

Led by USC Shoah Foundation's Lesly Culp, EdD, Director of Education, this session will equip participants with strategies that analyze the role of survivor testimony to inform memory of personal experiences during the Holocaust and interpret visual history testimony along with other primary sources to foster compassion and a deeper understanding of moral responsibility in the face of trauma.
