THE WARSAW GHETTO UPRISING
Against all odds, the very first civilian uprising against the Germans during WWII began 79 years ago on April 19, 1943 in the Warsaw ghetto. Outnumbered and outgunned, starving and oppressed, two Jewish groups led mainly by youth chose to fight rather than be sent to their deaths. Liz Elsby, educator at Yad Vashem, will explain the significance behind this inspiring event of the Holocaust.
