Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.
The Tower of Life, a permanent exhibit at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum is a powerful tribute to the town of Eishyshok, Poland, and its Jewish population before the Holocaust. Join author Chana Stiefel and illustrator Susan Gal, as they discuss their award-winning children’s book The Tower of Life: How Yaffa Eliach Rebuilt Her Town in Stories and Photographs (Scholastic, 2022), which tells the true story of Holocaust survivor and historian Yaffa Eliach and her journey to collect thousands of photographs to restore the spirit of Eishyshok. Discover how to incorporate this unique story into the classroom, the importance of museums and memorials in preserving its history, and the relevance of Yaffa’s legacy in modern times.
This webinar connects to the Echoes & Reflections Studying the Holocaust and Justice, Life, and Memory After the Holocaust units.
