The results of ADL's annual audit revealed that antisemitic incidents surged in 2022, including a 49% increase of incidents in K-12 schools as compared to the previous year (2021) and a 206% increase from the year before that (2020).

However, on a more positive note, ADL’s studies have shown that people whose schools taught specifically about the Holocaust harbor less antisemitic prejudice than those who learned about the Holocaust elsewhere.
 
In May, we offer two free online courses to help educators effectively and responsibly teach about antisemitism and the Holocaust with middle and high school students and lay the groundwork for creating safer and more inclusive environments.

Examining & Responding to Antisemitism in American Culture
 
 
Audit 2022-CommsParticipation in this course gives educators the tools needed to deliver thoughtful, engaging, and historically accurate lessons on the manifestations of antisemitism in today's society.
 

Course Details

  • One interactive module available for two weeks; approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Participants receive a digital package of all resources explored in the course as well as a 4-hour certificate.

  • Proceed at your own pace each week, supported by an instructor, and enjoy asynchronous interaction with other educators.

  • Graduate credit available through the University of the Pacific.

Examining the Holocaust and WWII
 

Centered around clips from the film ThePBS_USATH_Course V2_1080x1080 U.S. and the Holocaust, this course supports teaching about the intersections of the Holocaust and WWII. Participants will explore topics such as antisemitism, immigration, xenophobia, and the "Final Solution".

Course Details

  • 3 interactive modules released over three weeks; approximately 6 hours to complete. Complete all three modules for a 6-hour certificate.

  • Participants proceed at their own pace each week, are supported by an instructor, and enjoy asynchronous interaction with other educators.

  • Graduate credit available through the University of the Pacific.
